Homiletics I & II
This two-part course begins by defining and examining homiletics. The short definition for homiletics is the art of preaching. The second part of the course presents the different types of sermons, the scope of them, and preparation for them beginning with preparing the preacher’s heart for the message (s). The module will explain the difference between exegesis (critical explanation of a text or scripture), eisegesis (an interpretation, especially of Scripture, that expresses the interpreter's own ideas, bias, or the like, rather than the meaning of the text), and hermeneutics (the science of interpretation especially of the Bible).

The Theology of Ministry
Beginning with the premise that ministers are men and women at work in the Kingdom of God, this module provides specifics such as identifying your calling, discussion of the anointing of God in your ministry, preparation and growth in your ministry, and, importantly how to wait for God’s Timing to begin ministry. The sixteen ministry gifts in the Bible are precursors to actual ministry. Students will learn the heart and spiritual conditioning needed to walk in their specific ministry calling which is deep in the spirit of men and women of God.

Leadership Theory
Very crucial to any ministry or church is to differentiate between traditional leadership, transformational leadership, and charismatic leadership. This module will define and analyze each of these leadership styles which can shape a ministry or church. We will study the advantages and disadvantages of each leadership style.

Process of Leadership
Leadership is not a destination. Rather it is a continuous process. Students will learn the steps for continuous growth and development. This module will compare and contrast five types of leadership: positioned leadership; permissioned leadership; productivity leadership; developmental leadership, and the pinnacle of leadership. It is important for pastors to discern which type of leadership style and calling they are working with in themselves and in others.

Leaders in Continuous Growth
Define, Identify, Assess, and Grow are the processes in this module. Various types of growth will be defined and described. Leaders must be able to discern the leadership potential in others in their ministry and know how to nurture that potential. One must be able to assess their own leadership qualities and set themselves on a path of continuous, intentional development and growth.

Study of Pastoral Ministry and Leadership I and II
What is Pastoral Theology? It is the study of the pastor or the pastoral ministry. The office gift of pastor is a particular calling which Jesus appoints. What are the elements that create effective pastoral ministry? This module will plumb the depths of what it means to be a pastor, the functions of a pastor, and the scope of pastoral ministry. Pastors should know their message, the people they are called to minister to, those to serve, and be a problem solver, all founded on the love of Christ for His Flock. We will look at how the Bible describes a pastor: elder, shepherd, bishop/overseer, preacher, and teacher.
